A camping we will go...

A camping we (Tim and I) will go...you ask where...the backyard!  The other weekend we wanted to get away...and being a little on the frugal side...we decided to use the backyard for our camping grounds...It was a lot of fun, so we're camping again this weekend!  


Here's some pics: of our dinner...the hot dogs were cooked over an open fire. Yummy!  And my hubby enjoying an adult beverage (smile)...and the tent...we sleep on cots we got from the Man Mall, Cabellas!

MapleLeaf Harvest...progress report...

Good morning.  I'm taking a break from vacuuming to post on my blog.  This weekend, I'm hoping to hide in my craft room to work on the MapleLeaf Harvest Quilt and the mini scrapbook for a Nilda, a co-worker.  I'd like to make a card, also, but I think I planning too much!


I tried to work on the mini scrapbook on Tuesday night, however, my Oregonian peep called! What a treat! It was so good to hear her voice.  Miss you (and the fam) a ton!


Anyho, here's the two blocks that I have completed....

WeeSanta on a Sunny Day...

I've been working on my WeeSanta a little bit at a time...and here's where I am as of today.  I know it doesn't look like I've gotten far, but the gold has a lot of coverage.


Oh and here's a picture of our yellow lab, Odessa...although she would rather I throw the ball for her...she lets me work on some of my crafty projects without getting too antsy!


Going back into the craft room...to see what kind of mess I can make...see you soon!

Almost forgot...

Almost forgot...on Friday, I went to Crafts Direct in the big town of St. Cloud, MN.  If you remember some time back, my Oregonian peep sent me a Bind-it-All...which could have been really a lot of fun had I gotten the spiral thingies before Friday.  But look out...I got the spiral thingie...and it's going to start those creative juices!  


Oh, and I got some 6 x 6 Authentic Free Bird paper...I like them a lot!

Here's another progress report for Wee Santa 2002 by Heart in Hand...I haven't worked on this project as much as I should have, but I made some great strides on Saturday...at least that's what I think.  Here's where I'm at...

Working on some fall leaves...

As it's no surprise to anyone who knows me that I'm juggling a couple different projects...here's one of them.  


On Friday, I visited Gone to Pieces Quilt Shop in Kimball, MN.  


Remember, I mentioned that I wasn't sure if I liked the lighter background (with specks of gold) and the black fabrics.  I found exactly what the quilt needed...take a look.  I think I'm going to love it...and can't wait to start sewing it together.  


In the past two days, I've cut all the necessary fabric...and I'm ready to start sewing...very excited!

Another 2012 finish...

I have another finish for 2012; I ended the Broomstick Afghan...I say ended because it was something I just started...I didn't have a pattern.  It's not that big...however, it was large enough for a little girl to drag around, so I ended it.


I definitely would do another Broomstick Afghan again...I love the lacy look...and think it would be gorgeous as a shawl.  Anyho, here's the finished project...Have an amazing day!

Not as tasty as my brother's, but they will do...

So I baked scones (with mini semi-sweet chocolate chips) this morning...they aren't as tasty as my brother's scones...but they will do considering that he (and his family) lives in Portland, Oregon...

Yeah...a card without pain...

Yeah, finally, a card without pain...lately, I'd been in a creativity slump...and every card which I created was painful...meaning it was a struggle to get the card to flow nicely.  I usually try to incorporate a color challenge and card sketch...you know two birds one stone.  However, this time I used only the card sketch...And today I had enough energy after work to participate in the Retro Sketch #7 and it went together easily...yeah...I'm so happy!

New quilting project...

Since finishing the Kiddie Christmas quilt...I needed something new to work on...and here it is: I selected the fabrics from my own stash...which was really fun!


However, I might need to replace the black with something else...maybe a Kona black.  Then the cream fabric, in the lower right hand corner, has some flecks of gold...thinking I will switch out that fabric, too...who knows maybe there's some hidden fabric still in my stash.

Final progress report on Kiddie Christmas...

This morning, I've finished some of my "honey-do" list items...at least the really important ones...I needed wanted to get into my craft room to play. I wanted to finish sewing the Kiddie Christmas quilt together before I created a couple cards.  I don't think I'm going to add a border...the fabric I have doesn't look right...besides I can use it only the remaining panel.

Progress Report...

Yesterday, when I said I wanted something easy to sew...that's what I meant.  Here's what I did with Kiddie Christmas...I only used 1 charm pack and 1 panel.  I haven't decided if I want to put on a border, yet.  I have some time to think about it, because the rows aren't sewn...any ho, here's what I have completed.  

Something different...

So originally, I wanted to start Camp Christmas by South Sea Imports, but it entailed too much thought because of the panel...I wanted to have blocks of various sizes set around the panel.  I was hoping I could use quilting software to help with the various sizes, but I have a MAC, and the software runs on a PC...so I put it away.  Now on to Kiddie Christmas from Moda...something easy...I'm cutting apart the panel squares.  I must have liked this line from Moda...because I purchased 2 panels (one in red and one in green), 1 charm pack and 2 different coordinating yardages...good thing I still like the fabric line.  :-)

I've been baking...

Yep, I've been baking...and nope, I'm not in a baking slump...as you will see!  And yep, they are just as YUMMY! It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth! :-)

Happy Birthday...a little late!

If you haven't noticed I've been in a card making slump...but, in my defense, hubby has been out of town for work...so I haven't had a lot of time.  After you look at this card...it's hard to believe that I'm not out of it.  However, it's done! The next card will be easier, right?  Any ho, I participated in the Splitcoaststampers.com Sketch Challenge; this card is for my nephew's birthday.  

Yummy cookies with a minor hangup....

I saw this recipe on Scrambled Henfruit's blog; I thought the lemon cookies looked yummy...and enough to try.  I was right...they are delicious...however, with one hangup...the white chocolate which I was suppose to melt in the microwave...didn't melt enough to "drizzle" over the cookies...so I smeared the chocolate over the cookies...worked just fine.  Even with the hiccup, I still would recommend the recipe!

Anniversary banner...

In a couple of weeks is my wedding anniversary with hubby...I thought it would be cute to make an anniversary type of banner.  It's not anything fancy...however, I've been in a card making slump...I thought it would get me out of it.  My analysis is: I didn't get the door open all the way...I just got my foot in the door.  Hopefully, in the next few days I'll have a complete turn around, so check back!  Here's my attempt at the banner:

New Quilting Project...

I got this panel at a quilt store garage sale; I thought it was really cute...and since I completed the BOM quilt...I needed something new to work on. I know what you're thinking...I'm already working on the Broomstick Lace Afghan...well, I need to plan the Camp Christmas a little.  And since there aren't a lot of patterns for panels...or at least I looked through my collection of patterns and online.  I didn't find any thing I really liked, so I'll need to sketch something for this beauty!  I have something in mind...so until then, I'll be working on the afghan.

Really quick "Congratulations on your New Baby" gift...

Something different...

Good Morning, so instead of making a card...which I still want to do...I started an afghan.  I had some leftover yarn from my niece's afghan I did years ago; I thought I would work with it.  It's kinda old school...the method is called Broomstick Lace Crochet.  It's sooo pretty...I love the lacy look of it.  I've included a tutorial from Red Heart...just in case you want to see who it's done...and oh, and here's my project.

Another 2012 finish...

Good Evening, folks...I have another 2012 finish...Yippee!  This quilt was part of a Block of the Month from several...several...several years ago.  I wanted to work with in my stash for the sashing, corner stones and border.  I knew that was an easy task even though I would end up digging through endless stacks of fabric...just to find the perfect fabric.  Fortunately, about a three weeks ago, I visited a local discount fabric store and found this little beauty to use for my border, so I didn't have to dig to far in. Thank God!  Now I need to find a border for the flower version of this pattern...this fabric I'll need to venture out to my local quilt store...Check back...to see if I find the other perfect fabric.

A little something good...

Since my darling hubby had a bump...actually a big bump...his ribs broke away from his sternum, it has been a movie night. Likely, I had my sewing machine set up on the kitchen table, so I did get some things done...stay tuned...I'll have other posts for today.
