Labor Day of Cross Stitching...

Well, I'm here...time has provided me with a lot of it since hubby has been out of town! I have spent my time keeping household business in order...or at least trying to do so! It seems to be a cat and mouse game to keep things up to snuff...you know?!

I have planned my days accordingly with daily tasks...sometimes those tasks fall by the wayside, only to be picked up another day...but in the end all tasks are DONE! And the house is clean!

I have worked diligently for 2 reason: keep myself busy and keep myself busy...I happy to say it has kept my mind of hubby being out of town.  But I’m happy to report the house has been spit shined and is ready for my VIP on Thursday...I am beyond excited to see hubby! BEYOND! Excited!

Since I have worked so hard to get things in order I have rewarded myself...today was a day of rest and CRAFTING!  I've been working on some projects for Christmas...since it's almost around the corner...as a matter of perspective, it's almost right around the corner.  One of the projects are cross stitch stockings for my brothers family!  And yes, I know I shouldn’t get too overjoyed but have one ALMOST accomplished!  But I'm over the moon with the small success...I will finish stitching this stocking in a matter of hours...but I need to order the charms which compliment it.  I wonder if there's a chart which indicates the placement of the beads and charms...looks like I will need to investigate.

Thank you for stopping by my blog; have a great evening!

A little here...a little there...

Good afternoon, I've been stitching a little here...a little there...all day.  I've wanted to head upstairs to make a card, but I'm already a week behind.  I wanted my brothers family to have the stocking before Christmas so that means I need to KEEP stitching!

My revised goal is to have this stocking completed by the end of the week...hoping I'm able to keep it! If I'm able to keep the goal...I'm rewarding myself by going to the Anchor Paper store...(lots of fun stuff for any paper crafting obsession)...then i would like to go to the cross stitch store in Minnetonka to get things for the next stocking...so with that being said...here's my update to the stocking...I'm going to stitch some more before I head to bed...

Lesson learned...

So as you many know I'm working on a Christmas quilt; as seen here:

If you look at the picture from the magazine, it shows SEVERAL half triangle squares...SEVERAL!  So I thought it would be smart to use Thangles. Well, I've never used them better but I knew they were pretty straight forward, or so I thought.

I purchased a pack...it says to cut 3 inch strips and finishes at 2.5 inch...yep those are the ones I need! I think to myself...yippee! I can work on my quilt again! Being the cautious person when using a new technique...I make one set. I complete all the steps are stated in the directions...the finished product is 3 inches...1/2 inch off!  So I've done something wrong because I need the half triangle squares to be 2 1/2 square! Well, perhaps it was because I strength the fabric when I took the paper off. I watch a tutorial on YouTube...I re-assess that it looks likes I'm doing everything right!

So I got ahead and sew all the Thangles I need and I cut apart the first one; being very, very cautious...I think to myself this time I got it! I measure it and nope, I ain't got it! I still have a half triangle square measuring 3 inches!

After much thought and research, I mean MUCH THOUGHT AND RESEARCH I figured out the following: the 2 1/2 inches finished refers to the block size when you sew it into a block...does that make sense?!

So after several thoughts, I decided to cut then like so:

Which gave me this:

I figured at least I wouldn't have to cut all 4 half triangle squares...if I cut them like the above picture.

Here's my final result...exactly what I needed...2 1/2 half triangle squares!

Yippee! Time for my next step!

A progress report...

So I had this project sitting by my lounge chair for some time...maybe a month...and I needed something to work on while I was watching House of Cards from Netflix...which I'm hooked on...it has a dark tone of politics...ANYHO...it was nice to work on...all I have left is the border...the boring stuff!

I looked at the whole pattern to see how much I have left to cross stitch...and I'm happy to report that there's only 4 more segments to stitch...and I'm even happier to report that I have a vacation coming up...8 days!! This should provide plenty of time to complete the other 4 segments as well as several other projects which have been on my radar for a while! I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

weak start to my week long celebration...

Well, it has been a weak start to my week long celebration.  It's Wednesday; and this is my second posting.  I was hoping today's posting would be my fourth, but it is what it is.  I'm going to have to make up for lost time....

All the cards I've created for this week are being sent to my Oregonian Peep as part of her birthday gift from me; as many of you know, she's a Stampin' Up Demonstrator.  My card designs vary from her designs, so I thought it would be cool to send her some of the cards I've created.  This way she's able to add them to her collection for card parties and such.  I hope she will like them!!
